Hardwood Restoration & Resurfacing

hardwood restoration | Bay Country Floors

Hardwood flooring has the benefit of lasting and performing for many decades without needing to be replaced. However, the older your hardwood, the more it’s likely to show.

The original colors will begin to fade, while dents and scratches result from years of wear and tear on the surface of your floors.

Luckily, another advantage of hardwood is your ability to refinish it to eliminate these signs of age and restore the wood to its original beauty. Our experts here at Bay Country Floors can resurface or refinish your hardwood floors and make them look like new.

What’s the difference between resurfacing and refinishing?

hardwood refinishing | Bay Country Floors

Hardwood Refinishing

is the process of sanding down the top layer of the floor and applying a fresh coat of stain of lacquer. It’s a simple job that serves to add a new shine to your floor. This procedure works well for floors with merely superficial scuffs and discolored areas, as long as the planks are all fairly even and smooth.

Hardwood Resurfacing

is more complex, potentially requiring the removal of old floorboards or grinding down uneven boards. Your floors may also require new nails to reinforce existing planks. However, resurfacing is typically the way to go if your floors are noticeably warped or bent, water-damaged, or rotted out, or if you have any missing or cracked planks. Simply refinishing these sorts of floors will not result in any sort of visible improvements.
